Media-Saturn has been present on the Russian market ever since the opening of the first Media Markt store in 2006. The Media-Saturn Group has its Russian headquarters in Moscow and operates 67 Media Markt stores in 30 Russian cities, from Krasnoyarsk to Krasnodar.

Extraordinary activities and promotions

In 2013 Media Markt launched yet another outstanding campaign called "Carry off in 50 seconds” in line with the forthcoming celebrations for the opening of the 50th store in Russia. Similar activities have already been run in Media Markt stores in Spain and Poland and Saturn stores in Germany. But this time there was not only one national finalist selected, but 22, one from every city where Media Markt is present. The total time for the foray exceeded 18 minutes and the  total sum of money – 9 million rubles (approximately 192.000 Euro).

  • In May 2015 Media Markt launched loyalty program “Khitroshopping” to drive customer loyalty and traffic. On top of regular benefits – bonuses from every purchase, free delivery, Media Markt there are more customized offers – birthday bonuses, tailor made offers based on purchase history of the customer. Program is off to a great start, just in 7 months more than 1 million customers provided data and joined it. Program was awarder as “Best Loyalty start” in 2015. The benefits are also available online.

  • As of 2015 Media Markt has adapted its positioning and currently main focus is to help customer to select the product which fits best to customer needs and help to get maximum pleasure from using it. To orientate customer in electronics Media Markt puts more focus on content development to explain how products work. Also, as of November 2015 new communication platform was launched, aimed at showing how Media Markt is different.

  • In September 2015 two pilot Media Markt Business shops were launched in Moscow and Ekaterinburg. This is new format of the store (shop-in-shop) located inside Metro Cash and Carry store and designed to delight Metro customers with broader assortment in electronics, better services and relevant promotions. Full omnichannel offering of Media Markt is also available in these stores, which includes extended assortment availability, loyalty program, financing, click-and-collect etc.

  • Last year special focus was made on online sales, which reached substantial part of turnover. Media Markt launched apps for mobile/tablets and launched unified client view, which helps to recognize same registered customer across multiple devices and customize content accordingly. There is a big pipeline of projects to grow online share of business further.
