Ingolstadt, 4.5.2010: The Media-Saturn Group is maintaining its growth trajectory. Today, Tuesday, 4 May 2010, Saturn opened its 250th store worldwide in Lyon, France. The new store is located in the largest city-center shopping mall in continental Europe, La Part-Dieu.
Saturn celebrates this new milestone in the history of the company with numerous special promotions. The store, with approximately 4,000 square meters of sales space and over 30,000 products, provides a total of 80 new jobs. “The site in the La Part-Dieu shopping mall, which attracts 30 million customers annually, is the ideal location for the new store. Following hot on the heels of the opening of our flagship store near Paris just a few months ago, the new Saturn store in Lyon once again highlights our commitment to the French market”, stated Roland Weise, CEO of Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH.
In 1999, France was the second country, after Austria, into which the Media-Saturn Group expanded. The consumer electronics chain currently has a total of 33 stores with over 2,100 employees here. It was also just two years ago that Saturn opened its 200th store in France, and in October 2009, the 14,000-square-meter flagship store opened its doors in the shopping mall DOMUS near Paris.
Media Markt and Saturn are also enjoying strong growth worldwide. With the opening of the store in Lyon, the Media-Saturn Group’s portfolio of stores now comprise 837 stores in 16 countries. The company is planning on opening its first store in China in 2010.
