Ingolstadt/Esch, 21.10.2008: The Media-Saturn Corporate Group will be opening their first Saturn store in Luxembourg on 23 October 2008. Following hot on the heels of Saturn’s launch in Greece, the opening of the consumer electronics superstore in Esch/Alzette-Belval in Luxembourg marks the opening of another European country this year. This brings the number of European countries in which the Media-Saturn Corporate Group is represented to 16. The group’s strategic aim is to drive dynamic growth by opening new Saturn and Media Markt stores throughout Germany and Europe on an ongoing basis.
“We are very pleased that we are now also present in Luxembourg with our retail brand Saturn”, stated Roland Weise, chairman of the management board of Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH. “The opening of the first Saturn store in Esch/Alzette-Belval indicates our long-term commitment to consumers in Luxembourg, and it opens up another strong European market for us. We are planning on opening a total of three Saturn stores in Luxembourg by the end of 2010.” Saturn has created 75 new jobs with the first store in Esch/Alzette-Belval alone.
“The new Saturn store will serve to attract consumers in Esch/Alzette and will also draw buying power to Luxembourg from the bordering regions”, stated Jean-Noel Braesch, COO Saturn Luxembourg and managing partner of the new store. Saturn’s successful business model combines a comprehensive selection of low-priced products with competent staff, excellent service and the advantages provided by a decentralized organizational structure. This business model allows Saturn to respond quickly and flexibly to the needs of the customers in a particular location.
Saturn stores offer their customers a wide range of brand-name products. Each store offers an average of 45,000 articles, including electrical and household appliances, computers and digital cameras, telecommunications equipment and a large selection of CDs and DVDs. Depending on the size of the store involved, the total number of articles can reach up to 100,000.
An additional competitive advantage enjoyed by Saturn and an important factor in the company’s success is its corporate culture, which relies on the initiative and sense of personal responsibility demonstrated by its employees. In order to provide its customers with optimum service, the company makes a significant investment in vocational and further training, as well in the personal development of its employees. The first Saturn store in Luxembourg will provide employment for 75 people.
