What are the prerequisites for a vocational training at the Media-Saturn Group and what is the best way to submit an application? Who is the appropriate person to contact? School leavers will find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding application, entry and vocational training here.
Who should I contact about my application?
You will find the name of the person you should contact in the sections dealing with our vocational training programs.
What should my application include?
A comprehensive cover letter, a curriculum vitae, your last two school reports, documentation or verification of any internships and/or work experience.
What training programs does the Media-Saturn Group offer?
Our management companies in Ingolstadt offer three training programs: Office Communications Specialist, Information Technology Specialist and Information Technology Assistant. You will find more detailed information under the heading “Students”. You can obtain detailed information about the various vocational training programs offered at Media Markt and Saturn stores on the Media Markt and Saturn websites.
Can I also apply to you for a vocational training program at a Media Markt or Saturn store?
Responsibility for vocational training programs at Media Markt and Saturn stores lies with the store in question. Please send your application directly to the store of your choice. You will find more information about the vocational training programs offered on the Media Markt and Saturn websites.
Which qualifications do I need for the vocational training programs?
The qualifications required depend on the training program involved. As a rule, we place importance on good grades in mathematics, German and other languages. The better the school report, the better your chances. In addition to your grades, we also place great importance on extracurricular activities such as internships, for example, and of course on your personality.
When should I submit my application for a vocational training program?
Ideally, you should apply from September for a place on a program which starts the following year. Please send your application documents (including your latest school report) to the contact person listed on the website or submit your application online via our job market.
When can I start my vocational training program?
The vocational training programs normally start on 1 September of each year (unless specified otherwise).
How long do the vocational training programs last?
The training programs for Information Technology Specialist and Information Technology Assistant last three years. The training program for Office Communications Specialist lasts two and a half years.
Is it possible to shorten the length of a training program?
Yes, if you have the appropriate prior knowledge. For example, you have a general qualification for university entrance (e.g. A levels, IB, Abitur) or have attended a vocational school, it is possible for the training program for Information Technology Specialist and Information Technology Assistant to be shortened to two and a half years and the training program for Office Communications Specialist to two years. However, you are not automatically entitled to an abbreviated training program.
What are my chances of finding a permanent position with the company after my training program has ended?
To us, our vocational training programs are an investment in the future. Therefore, Media-Saturn tries to find suitable jobs for its trainees once they have finished their training programs. The extent to which this is possible, which positions are available and what terms of employment apply will depend both on business development at the appropriate time and on the potential offered by the person in question. It is therefore impossible to make any kind of concrete statement regarding subsequent employment until shortly before the end of the training program.
What happens if I am called up to do my compulsory military/civilian service just before I am scheduled to start my vocational training program?
You will be given the opportunity to apply for our vocational training program again the following year.
What questions can I expect to be asked during my interview?
The interview helps us get a better idea of who you are, what interests you have and how motivated you are. You can expect to be asked questions like:
• Why did you choose this particular profession?
• Why did you apply to us? What do you find particularly interesting about our company?
• What were your favorite subjects at school and why?
• What are your plans for the future?
• What do you do in your free time? What activities are you involved in?
