VOCATIONAL TRAINING
In Germany, the corporate group’s training rate lies well above the average for the retail industry as a whole - something worthy of special mention. The Federal Minister of Economics, Wolfgang Clement, was of the same opinion and in 2003 commended Media Markt and Saturn’s initiative “Wir schaffen Zukunft” (Creating a Future).
Good prospects for vocational trainees
The companies in the Media-Saturn Group offer vocational training programs for approximately a dozen attractive jobs - from trained retail salesman for entertainment electronics to specialist for inventory management. You will find detailed information about the various training opportunities offered at the Media Markt and Saturn stores and the appropriate management companies on the websites maintained by our retail brands Media Markt and Saturn.
Young people also have the opportunity to train for one of three jobs at Media-Saturn’s headquarters in Ingolstadt: Information Technology Assistant, Information Technology Specialist and Office Communications Specialist.
Persuasive applications: Anyone hoping to secure a place on one of our training programs should apply as early as possible. The rule of thumb is that you can submit your application from as early as August up until the end of October for a place on a program starting the following year. Small seminar groups, individual coaching and financial support: A dual work-study program at a university of cooperative education or university of applied sciences incorporates both theory and practice. The Media-Saturn Group offers not only courses in Business Administration but also a course of study in Business Information Technology.
Program of study at a University of Cooperative Education
For those with business talent: Business Administration Applying theoretical knowledge in practice. A dual program of study offers you the opportunity to combine courses in business administration (with primary focus on commerce) taught at a university of cooperative education with practical work experience gained at one of our stores. This gives you the advantage of being able to immediately apply “in the field” what your learn in your courses. It also allows you to assume responsibility early and thus qualify yourself as a potential new recruit for the company. After just three years, you’ll have a Bachelor of Arts under your belt. During the theory phases at the university of cooperative education, your curriculum will include general business administration, economics, law, information technology and accounting. During the time spent in our stores, you will supervise practice-oriented projects, conduct purchasing negotiations, and learn about sales from the ground up.
A worthwhile commitment
Your commitment is well worth it’s while. On the one hand, the study conditions at the university of cooperative education offer you a huge advantage: You profit from small seminar groups and close supervision by your professors. On the other hand, you receive a monthly remuneration, depending on what year you are in. Under certain circumstances, it is also possible for your enrollment and tuition fees to be paid and for you to receive an accommodation allowance.

Excellent career opportunities and a Bachelor of Science in just three years. In cooperation with the Heidenheim University of Cooperative Education, Media-Saturn IT-Services GmbH (MSITS) is training future business information technology specialists. MSITS places great value on the close integration of theory and practice. The course alternates between 3-month periods learning the fundamentals of information technology with 3-month periods of work experience at MSITS, where the students can apply what they have learned in, for example, the departments involved in development, operations, support and training. Students are encouraged to take a broader perspective. After all, IT specialists provide support to our stores and foreign subsidiaries in 16 European countries.

Program of study at the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt
For information technology fans: Business Information Technology
A Bachelor of Science in just seven semesters: In cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt, we offer a program of study in Business Information Technology. Parallel to your studies, you will also complete a trainee program in our IT division in Ingolstadt. This gives you the advantage of not only completing a solid program of study offering sound practical experience but also provides you with a means of financing your studies.
Your program of study involves a combination of information technology and business administration. In parallel to your studies, you have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailer within the framework of a student trainee program during the semesters and in the form of work experience during the semester breaks. We provide you with all the support you need during your time as a trainee and during your practical work experience. We also provide support for a semester abroad at one of the university’s partner universities. When you start your studies, you will receive a monthly grant of 650 euros. From your 4th semester on, this grant increases to 750 euros per month. We are offering 10 places on the "Business Information Technology"
program of studies. After graduating, you have the option of taking up a junior management position in the IT division of the Media-Saturn Group.
For deft dealers: International Retail Management (in German)
A Bachelor of Arts and everything it takes for a career in the retail trade in just seven semesters. In 2005, we launched a German-language dual program of studies in International Retail Management in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt. This program provides you with the advantage of being able to combine an in-depth course of studies with practical work experience gained at a Media Markt or Saturn store - the best prerequisite for gradually growing into a responsible position at Media-Saturn.
At the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt, you complete your basic courses in business administration followed by advanced studies in the field of retail management. During the course-related internships, you can put your theoretical knowledge to the practical test. All students will receive a monthly grant of 700 euros from the Erich-Kellerhals Foundation for the full duration of their studies. Every year, we offer 40 places on the International Retail Management program of studies.
For the internationally minded: International Retail Management (in English)
An internationally-oriented study program, practical work experience, a Bachelor of Arts degree and everything it takes for an international career in the retail sector in just seven semesters. To achieve this goal, we launched the study program International Retail Management in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt, Germany. This program provides you with the advantage of being able to combine in-depth academic studies with practical work experience - the best prerequisite for gradually growing into a position of responsibility at the Media-Saturn Group Headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany or a country subsidiary.
At the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt, Germany, you first complete basic courses in business administration, followed by more advanced studies in the field of retail management. The language of instruction and examination is English. Course-related internships completed during the semester breaks and a practical semester provide you with the perfect opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge to the test and gain hands-on work experience at the Media-Saturn Group Headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany or a subsidiary in your home country. You will receive a monthly grant of 1,000 euro for the duration of your studies.
After graduation, you will have the chance to launch your career by becoming an international management trainee at the Media-Saturn Group Headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany or a subsidiary in your home country. You will be given the opportunity to master demanding operative and strategic challenges in both the national and international arenas. We will help you identify and develop your particular talents and strengths.
